Beta Chapter History: In the summer of 1993, Alpha Chapter President Myrna Rochelle Hernandez met Diana Hinojosa, a student at Texas Christian University. Miss Hinojosa expressed an interest in beginning a chapter of Sigma Lambda Alpha/Senoritas Latinas en Acción on her campus.
On October 14, 1993, Myrna Rochelle Hernandez, Andrea Quinones, Advisor Robin Zaruba, and pledges Trini Lopez, Elissa Lorenzana, and Sandra Barragan, held an interest meeting to establish a colony on TCU’s campus. Applications for the interest group were distributed throughout the university. The Executive Board of the Sigma Lambda Alpha-Alpha Chapter, conducted interviews.
On Thursday, November 4, 1993, the colony of Sigma Lambda Alpha was formed. Five young ladies were approved to establish the colony on the campus of Texas Christian University. The first members and officers were:

These ladies worked diligently to make a difference on TCU’s campus as well as in the immediate Fort Worth community. Their motivation and dedication allowed them to strongly establish themselves and be officially recognized by the University as an organization.
On September 14, 1994, the first non-founding members were inducted. The Hermanas included the following ladies of distinct character, personality, and academic and cultural interest: Victoria Calvillo, Carla Coscia, Veronica Criado, Erica Reyes, Michelle Ruiz, Prudence Zavala, and Melissa Zavaleta.
